1,2,3 off we go

Well it has been one heck of a week since I last wrote on this blog. I have kept my string of running days going which has made me happy. I can feel my body getting stronger week by week. This week has been a cold cold week in many ways.

One it was cold to see my Vikings loose that dam game the way they did last week. It was a great season but it came to a end way to soon in my mind. Not to sound like a total rube but the best team is not playing in the upcoming Super Bowl. Hell one way to look at it was we had like 200 more yards on offence then the "greatest show on turf" plus gave the dam ball away how many times more and where still there to win the game with just seconds left. I know could of should of. Better luck next year I guess. Second it was cold as in temp's outside !! Man those where a few frigid run this week.

So on to other things for those of you who run with a ipod like I do a bunch of the time do you ever have a song that seems to come up allot and when it does you feel like you are flying ? Well this song by Rogue Wave does that for me and lately it has been coming up allot on the old ipod. Good stuff. Well take care and have a great weekend of running.

Hmm looks like fun

So we are always looking for what that next race/ challenge could be for us. It seems like my year of races keeps changing day to day. I feel like I should just take that part of my blog off. One race I keep coming back to is the North Face 50 mile final out in the San Fransisco area in December. I guess I will have to see how things are going but I think I might have to find a way out there. Here is a great video of the Women's champ this year Caitlin Smith.

As for my running it is going strong still ! I have kept alive my streak for 2010 so far with 22 straight days. I will have to say even though this is not very long it marks a good point for me as I think it has been at least 1 year since I have run 22 days in a row. Overall I have felt real good each day and getting stronger I think. Had the second Friday in a row with a GREAT trail run with the guys. I am hoping to knock out a 20 miler tomorrow morning so we will see. I am just going with the flow. Go Vikings !!

Ultramarathon Woman

So my wife Sonya and I have this good friend Kim who like us loves to run long, real long. Sonya first met Kim a few years ago at the Sunmart 50 mile race in Texas. Lucky for us she and her family moved to MN and her and Sonya have been able to become good running friends. It makes me so happy when I get to hear that Sonya got to get out for her daily run with her friends !! This is a movie about Kim that was filmed at last years FANS 24 hour race in which she was the Women's champ. Enjoy !!

On a Roll in 2010

So you know how we all roll into the new year every year and we talk about all the things we want to do different or better. Well I for one always like to do that. I remember my old high school coach Mr. Kleyman saying that even the best races you can always find something you could do better as well as even the worst races you can find something you did pretty good at. I have tried to live my life in all ways that way.

For 2010 in my running world I decided I need to put forth a honest effort and try to be better at sticking with things no matter how hard they get. With my daily runs that meant getting out no matter what, even if that meant running on the dreaded treadmill this winter. I told myself I would have a 3 mile minimum for distance. I figured if I felt like I needed a real easy day 3 should do the trick. I also know I need to do workouts once more. Man I have been so bad with this for far to long.

I am happy to report that so far everything has been working out pretty good. I have run everyday this year so far and even better I have been feeling pretty good doing it. I have had a few days where I just did not feel it but got out there or in two different cases even ran on the treadmill. I know it sounds silly at this point since the year is only 12 days old but I am pretty happy about it. I even am a bit excited to be putting a race schedule together. I hope everyone else is having a good start to there new year as well. See you at the trails/roads/ metrodome/ or even treadmill !!
